Ensuring an unbiased opinion is key. To guarantee impartial judgement, Peter Kohler Windows sends its windows to registered, independent testing labs in both the United States and Canada for certification. From our test results we are very pleased to report our windows meet and exceed published industry standards regulated by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), the National Fenestration Council (NFRC), and Energy Star.

We know that success involves much more than a superior product. That's why we guarantee our window frames and sashes, worry-free from 20 years to lifetime. Our dependable and secure insulated glass unit is covered for 10 years to lifetime and a 5 year to lifetime guarantee covers hardware components. Wood components and permafinish are under warranty for 5 years.

Our vigourous product certification ensures our windows and doors meet or exceed CSA approved standards and are NFRC and AAMA certified. Our in-house testing facility also ensures our products achieve benchmark performance ratings.

Warranties

Peter Kohler, subject to the conditions and limitations following, warrants its products to be free from manufacturing defects. This warranty includes, when subjected to normal and proper use, peeling, flaking, blistering, corrosion and rot, on the following products:

Entrance System Warranty

 Entrance Doors 

* To maintain product warranty for fibreglass slabs, paint or stain all 6 sides of the door slab within 45 days of installation. Re-painting and staining every 1-7 years will be required depending on weather exposure.  Primed slabs must be painted within 6 months to maintain warranty.

** To maintain product warranty, wood frames must be painted within 6 months of installation.

Limitations

Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems offers a broad and comprehensive warranty; however, there are certain limitations and conditions. If any component of our windows or doors is found to be defective during the warranty coverage period, Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems will repair, provide a suitable replacement, or refund the purchase price. In the event of product replacement under the terms of this warranty, the warranty of that product will remain in effect for the balance of the warranty period from the original date of purchase. Labour costs incurred during replacement of the parts or products will be covered by Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems only in the event that the defect occurs within one year of initial installation (except with Supreme products as the warranty covers parts and labour for lifetime, and Select products, which covers labour for 30 years). Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems will only be responsible for the labour and parts or product cost associated with the removal and replacement of the product itself. Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems will not be liable for instances of misuse, abuse, neglect or improper handling or storage that lead to product failure or damage. Also, the warranty will be null and void in the instance of improper installation, impact of foreign objects, fire, earthquake, flood, lightening, hurricane, hail, tornado or other acts of nature. Defects in wall construction in which a window or door was installed, or damage to the wall caused by movement, distortion, cracking or settling of such wall or foundation, will void warranty coverage. Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems will not be held liable for discolouration or other damage caused by exposure to harmful chemicals. Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems windows are not warranted against glass breakage, regardless of the reason, or condensation resulting from humidity within the house or building area caused by changes in interior/exterior temperatures. Any after-market product installed that could compromise the integrity of the window or door (i.e. window glass film, shutters, blinds) may void the warranty of that component. Screens, door sweeps, door thresholds and rusty screws are not covered under warranty.

The Lifetime Warranty does not apply to homeowners who are not the original purchasers of the windows. In these cases, the warranty will revert to the Select warranty for all parts and 1 year for labour. The Lifetime Warranty offered by Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems is valid for only individual homeowners. It does not apply to windows or doors purchased for commercial use or for premises not used by the owner as their primary residence.

Other Conditions

This warranty is expressly in lieu of all other oral or written warranties, liabilities or obligations of Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems. No representative of Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems is authorized to make changes or modifications to this warranty. In no event shall Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems be liable for consequential or incidental damages of any kind, including damage to persons, the building or its contents.

Product Care

All windows and doors must be maintained properly to ensure trouble free use. All moving parts should be lubricated at least once per year and dust, dirt and lint buildup should be removed with a clean cloth. All exterior sealants and adhesives should be checked on a yearly basis and tended to as necessary. Your warranty will be void if the above steps are not followed.

Making a Warranty Claim

To obtain remedy under this warranty, it is the obligation of the homeowner to notify the Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems dealer where the purchase was made as soon as possible. The dealer shall inspect the problem and inform Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems in writing of any defect in a prompt matter. Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems will investigate the claim and examine the product deemed to be defective. This inspection will determine the need for replacement product or components and Peter Kohler Windows & Entrance Systems shall, within a reasonable period of time, provide the necessary replacement.
